| Envro School |
|
This year Featherston school, became an 'envro-school'. An 'envro-club' was set up with a variety of interested children at the first meeting and identifying some things that they thought would make our school a nicer place. They also looked at recycling and world wide environmental issues. The envro club had an environmental afternoon, which was really positive. The children and teachers all worked together to put mushroom compost on the gardens and tidy up the grounds. It would be really good to make this into an annual event and hopefully encourage more parents and caregivers to come and be involved. We were also very lucky to have some gardens and plants donated to the school. They have become school community gardens and are maintained and replanted by different members of the envro club. All the children in the school, know that they are welcome to come to envro club on Wednesdays, so the children turning up are never the same. Most Wednesdays we have 5 to 6 children either weeding gardens, planting flowers and vegetable, growing seedlings or watering gardens.
I will add photo's photo's showing the progression of our gardens, as soon as possible.
